The history behind the name Soap's Place
The history behind the name Soap's Place
Soap's Place was built in 1977 by O.F. "Soap" and Opaline Hardman to serve as the family home. Their goal was raise their children in a picturesque, country setting on The San Saba River. Soap grew up with a love of the outdoors, ranching, and horses and wanted to share his passion with his family.
Soap was loved and respected by his children, grandchildren, and many friends. He was a Navy Veteran and a true Texas Cowboy.
In 2007 Dennis Hardman, son of Soap and Opaline, and wife Teresa purchased the property and begun the renovation to create a beautiful special event venue and lodge. In 2009 with the renovations complete, Soap's Place began accepting reservations for weddings, class reunions, lodging, and other special events.
Dennis named the venue Soap's Place to honor the memory of a loving father and friend. He hopes to share this love of the quiet country setting with guests who can make lasting memories of their own.
